From the President

Every year, approximately 3.1 million children die from hunger. Malnutrition is the underlying cause of death for nearly half of children under the age of 5. These are numbers too tragic to ignore.

I am deeply passionate about Speroway’s mission – helping children and families facing hunger, poverty, and injustice. Speroway partners with feeding programs all over the world to ensure that children have food to eat, survive, and grow.

Having worked for over 23 years in executive leadership in the not-for-profit sector, I’ve had the privilege of traveling to over 50 countries visiting with families and communities whose lives have been transformed through quality and sustainable food and nutrition programs, healthcare, and education.

Just last year, Speroway provided over 2 million meals – just under 200,000 nutritious meals monthly – to children and families in Kenya, Malawi, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Nepal, and vulnerable communities in Canada. We also supported thousands through quality healthcare and education.

Whether it is a rural village in Malawi or in makeshift tent cities that have developed since the devastating earthquake in Haiti, we are there, responding quickly to natural disasters and distributing food to those that need it the most. We are there, helping orphans and abandoned children in Kenya who have lost their parent. We are there, providing children and youth the opportunity at brighter future through education.

None of this would be possible without our donors and supporters. I invite you to join us. Together we can make a difference to address hunger and malnutrition and to offer a full solution to poverty for marginalized children and families.

Blessings,

Ken Forbes
