Ascension & Caraballo

Speroway works in the North Coast of the Dominican Republic in the communities of Ascension and Caraballo, providing over 4,000 meals monthly through a community-based feeding program to vulnerable children. Speroway also supports hundreds of children and youth through education and life skills training.

Led by our partner, Pastor Megan Ratnam, our goal is to keep as many children and youth in school as long as possible by eliminating barriers to education.

Secondary and post-secondary scholarships and education support are also provided to bright and motivated youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Community Feeding Program

Access to food is at the core of our most basic human needs. Malnourished children are missing key nutrients in their diets. Food is essential to fuel children’s bodies and brains with the nutrients they need to grow, learn, and thrive. The community feeding program gives children the energy they need to focus and learn.

Education Program

Education is one of the most effective ways to move families out of poverty and into a brighter future. We address barriers to education and work with communities and local volunteers to improve the quality of education that children and youth receive. In the Dominican Republic, lack of uniforms often keeps children at home from school. An annual uniform campaign raises funding each year to ensure that each child in the Ascension and Caraballo villages.

Post-Secondary Scholarships

The Ascension and Caraballo scholarship program provides access to higher education for young people who are academically bright and committed to giving back to their communities. The scholarships provide young people who value learning and have the drive to complete their education with opportunities to realize their full potential creating a Generation of Change.
