Twenty Women Strong-Debbie Hobson

$740.00 of $1,000.00 raised

In November 2017, a group of "Twenty Women Strong," a Canadian volunteer initiative operating in partnership with Together Works Society, Speroway, and Monty's Beach Lodge (in Nicaragua), will head down to Jiquilillo, Nicaragua. Our group gives a helping hand to a single mother in a home building project in rural Nicaragua. Working together, we will build a more sustainable future for this woman and her children.

Each builder has a goal to raise $1,000.00 Canadian for building materials. I am very passionate about helping with this project, and every little bit helps. Donations are tax deductible with tax receipts issued by Speroway. I will be most grateful for each and every donation. Thank you in advance for your support. If you are unable to help financially, thank you for reading and sharing our project with others.

Sincerely,

Debbie

Women's Cooperative Home Building Projects

Nicaragua has one of the highest housing deficits in Central America with over 78% of the population living in inadequate homes or are homeless. Lack of adequate housing causes families to live with a constant burden of uncertainty, stress and fear. Safe and decent shelter provides an opportunity for families to break generational cycles of poverty and build better, healthier, and more stable lives.

Speroway is raising funds to support the relocation and safe and adequate housing for ten low-income families. Through your gift you will be helping to support these ten women and their children who are apart of the Women's Faith and Hope Cooperative in the community of Jiquilillo.

Speroway works in the rural Nicaraguan communities of Jiquilillo, Los Zorros, Padre Ramos and the community of El Limonal near Chinandega. Activities and initiatives are pursued in collaboration with these communities, and in partnership with other participating organizations with a shared vision of alleviating poverty through improved education, accessible healthcare, and enhanced self-employment opportunities.
