Twenty Women Strong-Shannon

$1,000.00 of $1,000.00 raised
I visited Nicaragua last year on vacation and the place and people touched me. On this trip, I started to realize my own personal potential and saw ways I could help others. We have a safety net here in Canada that I have taken for granted. By the grace of family and friends, myself, nor my children, have never been without a meal or a roof over our heads. I still remember what a difference a helping hand made in tough times. It is now my time to pay it forward . Every little thought, gesture and action to help another makes a positive impact in this world.
I ask you to donate to help fund a house build for a mother and her children in Nicaragua. I will be part of this incredible project this November, with Twenty Women Strong. I am responsible for all my own cost, flights and accommodations. All donations will be directly for purchasing materials. Your donations are greatly appreciated and thank you for becoming part of this journey.

Women's Cooperative Home Building Projects

Nicaragua has one of the highest housing deficits in Central America with over 78% of the population living in inadequate homes or are homeless. Lack of adequate housing causes families to live with a constant burden of uncertainty, stress and fear. Safe and decent shelter provides an opportunity for families to break generational cycles of poverty and build better, healthier, and more stable lives.

Speroway is raising funds to support the relocation and safe and adequate housing for ten low-income families. Through your gift you will be helping to support these ten women and their children who are apart of the Women's Faith and Hope Cooperative in the community of Jiquilillo.

Home Building in Nicaragua

Nicaragua Jiquilillo Projects

Speroway works in the rural Nicaraguan communities of Jiquilillo, Los Zorros, Padre Ramos and the community of El Limonal near Chinandega. Activities and initiatives are pursued in collaboration with these communities, and in partnership with other participating organizations with a shared vision of alleviating poverty through improved education, accessible healthcare, and enhanced self-employment opportunities.
