This marks the third time that a Medical Team has travelled to El Salvador and the first one under the new banner “Speroway“. The team departs from Toronto tomorrow (March 26), destination San Salvador, El Salvador. Once they land, the action begins.
There is the loading and unloading of bags, many carrying medical supplies and equipment. At the hotel, the team will settle in and then transition to several rooms within the building. The distribution team will begin to separate and sort clothing supplies for the week. A pile will be made for each day and include everything from underwear to boots and shoes. Simon Pauls will organize this effort.
In another room, Pharmacist Christ Ritskes and team will organize the sorting of medical supplies including vitamins. Supplies are broken down into daily doses for easy distribution.
Elsewhere, doctors, nurses and paramedics will be organizing themselves and prepping new recruits under the watchful eye of Speroway Medical Advisor, Dr. Tony Brown. Dentists, dental assistants and hygienists will be ensuring their portable office is ship-shape and fully operational with Dr. Mark Cross at the helm.
As always, an array of support staff will ensure the logistics including vehicles, food, sites, etc., are fully prepped and operational so the team can hit the ground running. President Ken Dick will oversee this process.
El Salvador III is ready to go into 5 locations around the city of San Salvador, to serve the needs of children and families in those villages. The whole team extends it’s thanks to everyone that has contributed to this venture.

Hi Team,
I just wanted to let you all know that I am thinking about you all and wishing you the best as you start your first day on site tomorrow!
I so wish I were there working alongside of you; I really feel the loss of not having this special mission time in 2011. The only thing I am sharing with you now is the tropical weather, here in Israel ,and of course, trying to navigate in another language, although I would trade places with you in Spanish vs. Hebrew in an instant!
Love and support to all of you,
Sonia
