In November (NOV1-6, 2011) a small Speroway Medical Team will make it’s way to Haiti.

The team will consist of Speroway Medical Team advisor Dr. Anthony Brown, Dermatologist, Dr. Channy Muhn, Dental Team Advisor, Dr. Jack Cottrell and Dental Assistant Michelle Cottrell. A Dental Technician named Peter Kubista will assist Dr. Cottrell in the installation of new dental equipment at Mission Of Hope Dental Clinic. Speroway President, Ken Dick will also make the trip.

Dr. Cottrell will see patients in the new Dental Clinic. The other doctors will also see patients at the Mission of Hope Hospital/Clinic. There are also plans to go into Port-au-Prince to do work at orphanages in the heart of the city. We will partner there with Hunger Relief International, working alongside their Haiti Director, Dr. Didie Louis.

We would encourage you to donate to this Medical Team. In addition to costs associated with the Dental Clinic we are also purchasing medical supplies. Funds are also required to help pay for a container full of dental equipment and other supplies being shipped to Haiti sometime in the fall.

This marks a return to Haiti for several members of the team. Dr. Jack and Michelle have been very active in getting the MOH Dental Clinic up and running. For Ken Dick and Dr. Brown their last visit was just days after the huge earthquake that rocked Port-au-Prince January 12, 2010. Three doctors and 11 paramedics rushed into the relief effort in an experience that left an indelible mark on everyone involved.
