Nicaragua has one of the highest housing deficits in Central America with over 78% of the population living in inadequate homes or are homeless. Lack of adequate housing causes families to live with a constant burden of uncertainty, stress and fear. Safe and decent shelter provides an opportunity for families to break generational cycles of poverty and build better, healthier, and more stable lives.

Help us change a families' life! Over the next 5 years, our goal is to help build five houses, helping one family per year, to move into a safe and secure home.  Each home is built with a metal roof, windows and doors, interior walls and eco-friendly latrines. The homes are built with strong foundations and walls as Nicaragua experiences regular earthquakes and tremors.

Nicaragua is still the poorest country in Central America and the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Speroway works in the rural Nicaraguan communities of Jiquilillo, Los Zorros and Padre Ramos. Activities and initiatives are pursued in collaboration with these communities, and in partnership with other participating organizations with a shared vision of alleviating poverty through improved education, accessible healthcare and enhanced self-employment opportunities.
