How Many Children Will You Invite to Your Table this Harvest Season?

At the beginning of the Fall Harvest Season we gather with family and friends, we set out tables and share words of gratitude. And we have the opportunity to do it not just once or twice a year, but every day, if we chose to. Yet as you and all our supporters know, all around the world children are suffering from malnutrition and families struggle to out even more meal on their table.

Malnutrition contributes to more than 3 million "under-five" deaths annually, or 45% of all deaths for that age group, but it is entirely preventable. The numbers may seem overwhelming but at Speroway we help feed children everyday. We focus on one child, one community, and one school at a time-and your gift matters, it makes a difference!

So once again at this time of the year I am challenging my family, and all Speroway partner families, to feed as many hungry children in our programs as we possibly can. We also challenging you if you can, to consider supporting them for at least one month. Your gift of $35, $65 or whatever amount you can provide will be multiplied by 10x. How many children will you invite to your table?

With help from food suppliers, we are able to multiply your gift by 10x.

$35 will help, procure, transport and distribute $350 of food

$65 will help procure, transport and distribute $650 of food

$350 will help procure, transport and distribute $3500 of food

Blessing

I would like to introduce you to Blessing, yes that's her name, in the yellow dress. She and her family work hard in the fields near home to grow enough food to eat and try to sell some if possible. Blessing lives in a part of Malawi that is very hot and dry most of the year.

You see her with her mom Grace standing next to a Papaya tree that produces some fruit for them but it is the nearby fields that are so much harder to farm. One in four Malawians live in extreme poverty relying on small pockets of land for their livelihood.

The local government has been teaching them new methods of farming, like try to shelter seedlings with fencing for shade and to protect them from the elements-but right now her family needs your help to supplement what little they are able to grow.

We will continue to work with local partners to help them to be more self-sufficient in the longer term, but without your support and donations through Speroway it will be very difficult for Blessing and her family to get by this harvest season.
