Emergency: Devastating Food Crisis in Haiti

We need your support in addressing the devastating food crisis that has gripped the beautiful nation of Haiti.

The situation is dire, with gangs controlling major towns and ports, making it extremely challenging to transport food and essential supplies to those who need them the most. However, with our partners on the ground and with your help, there is hope. Speroway is currently working mainly in the middle of the country around the city of Pignon where the children are still in school. Despite the challenges posed by the gangs in the major cities and ports we are still working on ways to get food to those in greatest need.

However, as more and more families are forced to relocate to the countryside, the task of feeding these children and families is becoming increasingly difficult.

We need your help to procure nutritious food for this emergency.
$35 will help provide food for a child for an entire month, ensuring they receive the nourishment they desperately need
$65 provides cooking supplies that will help sustain a family for one month
$350 will supply food for an entire classroom for a month, giving these children the energy they need

In the midst of this turmoil, I want to share a heartfelt story with you. Meet Cecilia, a loving mother of three beautiful children, living in the midst of the chaos in Haiti. Like any parent, Cecilia dreams of providing her children with a better life, but the current circumstances have made it nearly impossible.

Maria, seen below with her 3 children, was also trying to make breakfast for them and all she had was a little bit of beans. This story is repeated over and over every day in Haiti. These children head to school on empty stomachs making it extremely difficult to concentrate and learn. Maria’s daughter, Josephine, is deep in thought as if she is praying for something to eat as many days, she does not have anything.
 
This is a challenging time for the people of Haiti. But your support can make a tangible difference in the lives of Maria, her children, and countless others. Together, we can ensure that no child goes to bed hungry, no family lacks the necessary provisions, and no classroom is deprived of the fuel for learning.

On my last trip to Haiti late last year, we brought food and were able to distribute it to many families, school children and community feeding programs. Late one night after finishing our work, one of the community leaders said to me, “Do you hear that?” I said, “What, I don’t hear anything?” “Yes,” he said, “Everyone is quiet tonight because they are able to sleep on a full stomach. “That single statement really touched me and I realized it was only made possible by the generosity of donors like you. Together, we must continue to give these children their quiet nights.
