Hunger Doesn’t Take a Holiday

For many children, summer means fun and family time. But for vulnerable children, it can mean losing the daily meals they receive at school. When schools close, families already facing food insecurity struggle even more. Through Speroway’s partners, summer feeding programs continue in Kenya, Haiti, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic, providing meals and hope to children in need.
In Kenya, we met Margaret, a mother of three whose children rely on school meals. When school closes, both the meals and her small source of income disappear, leaving her family with even greater challenges.
As I stood there with Margaret and her children, I was reminded that Hunger Doesn’t Take a Holiday. This is why I am asking for your help with our summer campaign:
– Home Delivery Baskets: Providing groceries for families to prepare meals at home.
– Community Feeding Programs: Serving nutritious meals to children and families throughout the summer.
This summer, your generosity can help families like Margaret’s through another difficult season.
Hunger doesn’t take a holiday
In Nicaragua, Marco and Sylvia are doing everything they can to provide for their three children, Matthew (12), Louisa (8) and Khalil (6). Both parents struggle with health issues, and Matthew lives with a physical disability
Marco earns what he can as a fisherman, but with his health issues, it is a very difficult way to make a living, so he also tries making fishing lines and hooks to sell to other fishermen just to earn enough for food. Every day, they face impossible choices between buying food, paying for medicine, or caring for their children.
When school is closed, another important source of food disappears. Families like Marco and Sylvia’s remind us that even the hardest-working parents sometimes need a helping hand. Through Speroway’s programs, you can help provide practical assistance, nutritious food, and hope to families facing overwhelming circumstances.
Our summer campaign will also help Seniors

When we are working in communities we often come across vulnerable
seniors who have no food. Our home delivery and community feeding programs also helps these seniors that are often forgotten. Every meal is a reminder that they are seen, valued and loved, your generosity can help ensure that no elderly neighbour is left hungry.
Through our Hunger Doesn’t Take a Holiday campaign:
$35 provides meals for a child for a month
$65 helps provide a food basket for a family to cook meals
$250 helps provide community meals for families in need
Your generous gift today can help ensure that families can receive the care they need.
