Emergency in Jamaica and Haiti
Families across the Caribbean, especially in Jamaica and parts of Haiti, are facing one of the worst disasters we have seen in years. Hurricane Melissa, one of the most powerful Atlantic storms on record and the strongest ever to make landfall in Jamaica, tore through the region with relentless winds and up to 16 inches (40 cm) of rain. Flash floods and landslides destroyed homes, roads, and crops. Communities that were already struggling to find food are now cut off from help.

Millions of people across Jamaica and Haiti are reeling in crisis. Homes and livelihoods have been destroyed, food is running out, and families are struggling to survive.
In Haiti, where hunger was already widespread, this storm has pushed many to the brink. In regions like
Jacmel, where the damage was severe, families are now cut off and desperate for help. Food prices continue to rise, and many have nowhere to turn.

Mothers, children, and elders in Jamaica are facing unimaginable hardships after Hurricane Melissa destroyed their homes and flooded towns. Together we can help them find safety, warmth, and a path to recovery.
We have been receiving heartbreaking updates from the communities we serve. Families like the one pictured above have lost nearly everything. Homes have been destroyed, and many parents are doing their best to find food and water for their children with little left to give.
When you donate to Speroway, your support goes directly to the people and communities in greatest need.
Your gift will be matched 2X, doubling its impact to rush food, water, and emergency supplies to
families in greatest need in both Haiti and Jamaica.
Our people in Jamaica and Haiti are doing everything possible to reach families with food and emergency aid, but they are running low on supplies and urgently need funding to continue their work. Speroway has been operating in Haiti for over 20 years, and I have personally worked there for more than 30. Over that time, we’ve built strong relationships with community and church partners across the Caribbean, including Jamaica. These trusted networks allow us to act quickly when disaster strikes, but we cannot do it without you.
Maria, a grandmother raising her two young granddaughters, told our team that the storm destroyed their small home and left them with nothing. With her crops washed away and local markets closed, she has no way to earn income or find food for the girls. Each night she prays for strength and for food to keep them going until help arrives. Families like hers urgently need our support today.

Even in this crisis, hope is not lost. With your support, families like Maria’s can receive emergency food, water, and care in the days ahead.
Every dollar you give will be matched 2X, helping twice as many children and families receive lifesaving food and care.

Your generosity in moments like this has always made a difference. Because of our local partners already on the ground, your gift will reach families quickly when it matters most.
Together, we can provide urgent relief and remind families that even in the hardest storms, they are not forgotten.
