Give the Gift of Hope to Children this Christmas

As the holiday season begins, many of us look for meaningful ways to share kindness. This year, your gift can go twice as far, every donation will be matched to help children in urgent need.

Through Speroway, you can Give the Gift of Hope this Christmas. Inside the letter, you’ll find five gift options, each inspired by a real story from the countries we serve. While each story highlights one family or community, all five gifts are needed across our programs

FOOD DELIVERY AND COOKING SUPPLIES – $65

On my last visit to Kenya, I met three siblings standing outside their small home. Mark, the eldest, is doing everything he can to care for his younger sisters Faith and Judith.

Their father passed away last year and their mother died only two months ago, leaving the children completely on their own.

Mark is also facing a serious medical challenge. A tumour on one side of his face has grown so large that he cannot work or attend school, leaving the little family with no income and very little food. We are arranging for Mark to receive a medical assessment, but right now these children need help simply to get through the weeks ahead.

Your gift of $65 provides a home food and cooking supply basket which will bring stability, nourishment and hope to children who have already endured so much.

MALNUTRITION SUPPORT – $100

In the Dominican Republic Speroway supports nurses like Nancy who regularly visit vulnerable communities to monitor children’s health and guide mothers in caring for their little ones.

This is Adele with her baby Leroy. His swollen stomach is caused by severe malnutrition and dangerous fluid buildup which can be life threatening if untreated. No child should face such a threat to their health.

Your gift of $100 will help continue the vital work of monitoring children, providing essential vitamins and food supplements and on-going support for young mothers.

COMMUNITY FEEDING PROGRAMS – $350

Haiti continues to face unimaginable challenges. Ongoing gang violence and Hurricane Melissa have made it extremely difficult for families to find food or access to basic supplies. Speroway operates in the middle of the country where it is still safe to operate school and church feeding programs.

Often the meal served at a church or community center is the only food a child will receive that day. Parents tell us that these meals are the difference between their children going to bed hungry or going to bed with hope.

Your gift of $350 helps provide community feeding meals this Christmas.

MATTRESS – $150 AND NEW BEDDING PACKAGE – $95

During my visit to Nicaragua, I met Angelina and her daughter Nicole in their one-room home made of rusted tin, plastic sheets, and rough wooden boards.

Inside their home was a small wooden bed frame with no mattress, no blankets, and no pillows. Most nights they sleep in a hammock because it is the only place that offers a bit of comfort.

Your gift helping towards mattresses and bedding will provide comfort and a warm place to sleep.

SCHOOL MEALS FOR A CLASSROOM – $150 OR MEALS FOR A CHILD FOR A MONTH – $35

For many children, the meal they receive at school is the only food they will eat that day. These meals help children stay focused in class, support healthy growth, and give parents hope knowing their children are cared for.

Speroway supports school feeding programs in Kenya, Malawi, Nicaragua, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic.
